pumpkin journal day #1

My dad Chris Brauns and I have decided to plant pumpkins. So my dad said,That we could use this  website to give info about them. I decided to do a journal on this website I’ll separate each entry with numbers. Here’s  #1 I have always heard about being a good steward of the earth. My dad and I have decided to take that into our own hands. The pumpkins the seeds should be planted by Saturday. It should be 100 days till harvest. But as I have learned the seed is growing every day.

How big was the largest pumpkin ever grown?

  1. We are all very excited to see your garden! We have stared one this year too and are really enjoying it! It is so much fun to see the seedlings break through! We tried just one pumpkin last year and it rotted. Apparently, even our local pumpkin grower had to order in pumpkins because last year was a bad year for them. I hope this year is better! Have you heard of any tricks to prevent rot?

We looked up the answer to your question. Were we allowed to research or were we supposed to guess?

  2. well…I have done some research on pumpkins. And there’s a trick no-one knows. First of all does it have special fertalizer for pumpkins ONLY.But…that’s not the trick. That is very important but not as important as this. Water every day. Yes every day but…keep the leaves dry and you should be fine.

  3. I am very excited to follow your progress with the pumpkins as I am also excited to see you grow through this experience. Love you and looking forward to your next update.

  4. Marybeth, a trick I tried one year with my squash was to put a “plate” of aluminum foil under each one to deter vine borers……it either worked or there were no bugs that year :)) Good luck!
