Happy Father’s Day!
The below picture is of my dad on the day of his farm sale. My dad is the one with the yellow gloves and he is talking to his pastor.
My brother, Danny, is on the right. He’s laughing at something. With Danny, it’s usually best to not ask what he’s laughing about.
A great deal of mixed emotions on that day, I reckon.

I know there was a sale of your Dad’s equipment and it sat out at the Fair Grounds for a while. I stopped out there one night when I came from Ottumwa after work and was going to look at the dump truck to try to understand what Norman and you discussed about what may have happened with Ryne’s accident. The truck looked so humongous in size and I took one look at it and thought I would vomit. I ran to my car and left without another look. To this day that picture and feeling are frozen in a corner of my mind.
I don’t think I ever told anyone about that.
