Would You Give 2 Minutes Today to Meditate on Romans 15:13?

Here’s all you have to remember: Romans 15:13. Meditate on it. You won’t be disappointed.

Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”

I’ve been thinking about this verse all week. I’ve repeated it over one hundred times and rolled it around my mind while walking.

“May the God of hope. . . ” God is the God of all hope. Regardless of how bad things may seem. He will most certainly accomplish his purposes. You can count on it.

This fills those who believe with joy and peace. Whatever our lot, he has taught us to say, “It is well with our souls.”

But, we cannot do it in our own strength. We pray that the Holy Spirit would powerfully work in our lives. And, as he does work powerfully in our lives, we pray that we would be so filled to the brim with hope, that it would spill over from our lives and splash onto those around you.

So, this is my prayer for you today. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope.

Thanks for the Edits: Thanks to my kind and observant readers who noticed that in the first round of this post, I had “mediate” rather than “meditate” and I had substituted “you” for joy such that the verse read that you would be filled with peace and “you”.  A couple of pretty unfortunate errors!

  1. This has been “my” verse for a few years; hope…love the quote, “Hope is having the ability to hear the music of the future, faith is having the courage to dance to it today.” My personal acronym for the word is He Oversees People and Events. As an ancient youth guy it is a continual joy, privilege and responsibility to tell people there is Hope, and His Name is Jesus.

  2. That verse has also been important to me.

I’ve had to grasp the “in believing” very frontally. I’d like the God of hope to fill me with joy and peace… and then I’ll believe! But that isn’t the apostolic (nor dominical [John 11:40]) order, is it?

  3. “abound in hope” wow.

most days lately its seemed i have barely been able to cling to hope.

thank you for the reminder that God is the one who gives hope, that He has promised to complete what He’s begun in me and that in His power, I can truly abound in hope.

I needed this today. thank you.
