I am so done with Bell. Andrew Wilson does an outstanding job with him. I think the question is whether Bell (or any other leader/teacher/shepherd of the flock) actually places himself (and his creativity, sensitivity, gregariousness, and intellect) under the authority of Scripture, or Christ, or anything or anyone at all.
When he spoke of “big tent” – you know, the church is not a political party, and Jesus is not running for office! He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords; He cares nothing for the opinions and malleable mores of our post-modern cultural cesspool.
We proclaim Christ, unashamedly, or we are not His at all. If he’d rather dismiss God’s ways in order to keep his gay friends, I don’t see how I can call him a brother.
From II Timothy 4: “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
Bell and all other modern mythmakers – especially those who present as Christians – have set themselves above God, and will be brought low. Doesn’t matter what I think – I have God’s word on it, and He will judge rightly.
Not much more to say but Amen. We either follow
The Lord or follow the world. There is no in-between.
Thank you!
