Thomas Sowell:

Dan Rather opened a CBS Evening News broadcast in 1991 by declaring, “One in eight American children is going hungry tonight.” Newsweek, the Associated Press, and the Boston Globe repeated this statistic, and many others joined the media chorus, with or without that unsubstantiated statistic.

When the Centers for Disease Control and the Department of Agriculture examined people from a variety of income levels, however, they found no evidence of malnutrition among those in the lowest income brackets. Nor was there any significant difference in the intake of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients from one income level to another.

  1. This was a good article. I am a big fan of Thomas Sowell.

    And speaking of hoaxes and costing tax payers money, I wonder if he’s written anything yet about these idiotic “Occupy Wall Street” protests. I can apply the principles here to the lunacy of that wicked movement as well.

    Tonight the mollycoddles have made their way to Washington Square Park where the NYPD has promised to enforce a curfew. Truly praying for the grace of God to cover everyone and that the damage that this has the potential to become — not just here in NYC, but in the nation, is curtailed.

  2. Problem is Sowell is lying through his teeth about what the CDC has to say about hunger in America.
