How frequently do you read the Bible aloud?
Take a couple of minutes this Saturday – – say less than 5 even – – and read a passage aloud to yourself.
It is best to do it more than once. The first time you will need to get a feel for the punctuation and the flow of the passage. The second time through you can read with more expression.
It does not matter if you don’t consider yourself a good reader. Read the passage privately and with prayerful meditation.
Pick out a paragraph or two and read. You have a whole Bible to work with, but suggestions might include:
- John 14:1-6
- Revelation 21:1-8
- 1 Timothy 6:6-10
- James 1:1-8
- Matthew 5:1-12
- Ephesians 2:1-10
- Psalm 1
- Psalm 23
- Psalm 19
Thank you for the Keller link:
With the risk of being accused of pastor worship, I must say I would visit Timothy Keller’s church, given the chance. What an articulate and honest-hearted man. This interview was too short for me. Could have kept reading for some time. How much more interesting to sit and listen for an extended time? Keller is a man who gently demands that you think. Love it!
Jeanie, Thanks for commenting. And I love Psalm 91 for the record.
