Mohler: “The Sins of the Father”

Whether we like it or not, the sins of one generation do have some effect on the next.

I have previously posted on the Principle of the Rope which stresses that we are not isolated individuals.  We are “roped” to one another.  Nowhere is this more true than in the case of families.

Consider Dr. Mohler’s recent post on the suicide of Mark Madoff.

The suicide of Mark Madoff, the 46-year-old elder son of disgraced financier Bernard Madoff, has all the trappings of a Greek tragedy. Madoff hanged himself in his Manhattan apartment on Saturday, the second anniversary of his father’s arrest for what is now known as the world’s largest-ever Ponzi scheme.

Just before killing himself, Madoff called relatives and asked them to check on his two-year-old son, sleeping in the next room.

The rest here.

  1. I know, now, that the reality of the biblical warning is VERY clear. This takes much thought. We cannot undo our past, we can only ask for forgiveness and repent. Just thinking of this two-year-old tugs at my heart.
