You can learn something about apologetics (defending the faith) by watching this exchange. Notice not only that Wilson demonstrates the inconsistencies of an atheist position, but also that he does so with a smile on his face.

Doug Wilson is so “consistent” that he thinks slavery was OK, adulterers should be executed, women should be owned by their husbands, rapists should only pay a fine to the woman’s father (and marry her, if her father approves), because the bible tells him to do that. He’s soft on gays, thinking they should just be exiled instead of killed.
No thanks, I’ll stick with the atheists instead of psychotic tinpot-dictators with imaginary friends who reinforce their delusions.
Wow Brian, way to take things out of context. Maybe if you read the entire Bible you’re trying to misquote you’d understand that the Christian viewpoint does not condone what you’re saying Wilson believes. God created a beautiful world and man has messed it up royally — that’s where you get the slavery, rape, and adultery. God is well within his right (as a matter of fact he is obligated by virtue of his perfect justice) to punish the wickedness that man has wrought on his earth. Thankfully, God has also provided the means to escape our punishment. Really, Brian. Take a moment to set aside your biases toward imperfect people and try seeing the world as Christ has asked us to see it. Don’t let the distorted works of a bunch of sinners (Wilson and I included) stand in the way of the truth. Please make an honest effort to find it out for yourself.
None of what I wrote is “out of context.” Doug Wilson co-wrote “Southern Slavery, As It Was (ISBN 1-885767-17-X)” with the League of the South co-founder Steve Wilkins. “the Christians who owned slaves in the South were on firm scriptural ground” is a quote from that.
Here’s what the Southern Poverty Law Center has written about Wilson:
