When teaching a section on truth theory in my intro philosophy class a few years back, a student blurted out “There is no truth!” to which I responded…”Oh yea? Is that true?” Her response, “Well yeah!!” The class roared in laughter (which I did not intend). She inquired why everyone was laughing and I gently reminded her of the law of non-contradiction we had gone over in our logic unit. I illustrated how her comment had cut off her intellectual nose to spite her post-modern face (so to speak). Sadly, she did not understand her logical faux pas, but insisted there is no truth!
