Paul probably didn’t picture a blog when he wrote, Titus 2:3-5. I doubt that his vision for older women teaching younger women included someone in Florida being able to write thoughts instantly accessible to the world. But, Pollwog Creek lives out the exhortation of this passage.
Mothers: Don’t miss this wise post from Patricia. I hope these thoughts get shared in one of our women’s Bible studies (or men’s for that matter).
For the record, I don’t get any royalties from Pollywog Creek for all these recommendations, and Patricia and I have never met personally. But, I do find that I am a growing fan.
Recently a young mother mentioned that she reads my blog – – I was pleased by that. But, I was even more excited when she mentioned that she had subscribed to Pollywog Creek. I’m sure it will help her.
Patricia’s post today is full of wisdom. Her point that one of the first things to study is your pastor’s sermons is thoroughly biblical (Ephesians 4:11-13, 1 Timothy 5:17-18). Remember, your pastor(s), in particular, is God’s special gift to you and his design for providing the bread of his Word that you need. Just as there are many good parents, but only one set for you, so God will work in and through your particular pastor – – not because of who he is – – but, because God is pleased to work through his under-shepherds.
From there, Patricia shows how she has personally worked through 1 Timothy 6:6: “godliness with contentment is great gain.” I am going to file her post with that verse, and the next time I preach on that passage I’ll be talking about Pollywog Creek.
Chris, I am humbled. Truly. May Christ alone be glorified in me and may my words be pleasing in His sight.
