Sodbusters that we are, Mary Elizabeth and I retained a custom tilling service and prepared the soil using a modified no-till system. We put out tomato plants, and planted green beans, pumkins, and peppers.

You’re my kind of gal Marybeth………and your Dad’s okay too :)) When my kids were young(er) and we dug for potatoes, it felt like digging for buried treasure! Hope you have a rewarding harvest!

With the no-till system, did you use some kind of herbicide? Are you using anything for fertilizer?
We just ate some garden grown tomatoes today at lunch. The kids were all raving about how much better they are than the store bought variety!
I gave up gardening when Robert,Sr started playing Little League. He was my athlete in the family and I wanted to watch him participate more than I wanted to spend that time planting, tilling, weeding, harvesting, etc. a garden. Norman (then husband) always made fun of my efforts anyway;
It looks like you are doing good work, Mary Elizabeth, with some help from Dad.
It can be fun and the vegetables you can eat from your garden always taste better, especially tomatoes, new potatoes (if you plant them), and green beans and/or peas.
