A One Page Overview of Unpacking Forgiveness

Chris —  July 10, 2009

One of the challenges of unpacking forgiveness is to see how different biblical principles relate to one another.  For instance, Proverbs 19:11 says, “A man’s wisdom gives him patience.  It is to his glory to overlook an offense.”  But, Matthew 18:15ff says, “Go and show him his fault just between the two of you. . . so which is it?

The below diagram is not included in my book Unpacking Forgiveness: Biblical Answers for Complex Questions and Deep Wounds.  But, I think it is helpful because it shows high level the relationship between different principles.

I know it is cluttered – – it isn’t easy to summarize a book on a page. . .

  1. Thanks, Chris. I like this and look forward to sharing it with our small group next week.

  2. Excellent! Nicely done in capturing the essence of a complex but vital issue. Will post to my facebook in hopes that others buy the book AND read it AND apply where appropriate!

  3. Chris, may I have permission to make approximately twenty copies for our church. This would be very helpful in walking our church through some current instances of church discipline.

  4. By all means Josh. You are hereby licensed to make an unlimited # of copies!
