Forgiveness and the Justice of God

A person who writes on forgiveness, never lacks for illustration material.  We live in a fallen world.  And, in a fallen world, relationships get damaged and broken.  How we work through forgiveness is survival skill #1.

Here are a couple of recent posts on forgiveness related subjects.  This one (click here), on the Peacemaker blog is about some people who asked a judge to be lenient in sentencing someone who did their family great harm.

This one (click here), from a blog Sola Panel argues that one way people should deal with their anger is by remembering the doctrine of eternal punishment.   As I say in a comment, I think he is on to something.

To sum up: the idea that God will judge people and cast them into eternal destruction—hell—for all eternity is a great comfort to anyone who is angry about injustice. Those of us who teach the gospel or tell it to others have a wonderfully comforting message of damnation that will bring hope to all who put their trust in God. The more we speak of it, the more comfort we offer.
